I jailbroke my iphone with geohot’s blackra1n which was very easy and i recomend it to all. I loved the jailbreak and was dumb and undid it to update to 3.1.3 firmware. I tried all the methods of ungradeing it and none of them work. does anyone know when geohot will update his jailbrak to work on 3.1.3?

sorry, they will not upgrade blackra1n to jailbreak 3.1.3. They are waiting until os 4.0 comes out to release any new jailbreaks.

Question by ashley t: What’s the difference between tethered/untethered iphone jailbreak?
I finally convinced myself to jailbreak my iphone 2g with 3.0 firmware, so I was googling and searching youtube for videos, and people have been mentioning tethered and untethered jailbreaking. I have never attempted this so I have no idea what they are talking about. Please explain the difference to me as simple as possible. Also let me know which one has better options and is safer.
Thanks in advance.

Question by Maria: iPhone Jailbreak?
What does it mean to Jailbreak my iPhone? How do I do that?

Answer by Quintin B
First of all you need a unlocked iPhone, which means you formated your iPhone to work on a different GSM cell phone carrier, Since the iPhone is a exclusive phone for ATT you would have to unlock the phone to use it with a different cell phone provider (ie: Sprint, Verizon…etc) So apple releases software updates for iPhone which usually bricks your unlocked iPhone so in order to “un-brick” you iPhone you need to “jail break” it. Which basically means that you are making your iPhone work again after it was paralyzed by apples iPhone software updates.

Yes, if the sim doesn’t burn. Then the main menu in the itunes’ iphone section –when you hook up your iphone to itunes– won’t show, and you’ll have to buy another simcard.
—I suggest you don’t jailbreak the iphone.
