Do your children struggle with reading? Would they rather play video games than pick up a book? My goal is to help children become confident readers and develop a love of books. I have a BA in English and training and extensive experience as a reading tutor, both one-on-one and in small groups. Hi my name is Daria, I’m currently a Ph.D. student at UC Davis. I’m also a lab instructor teaching physics (more than three years teaching experience) at UC Davis while working on my Ph.D. I have over 14 years of tutoring experience, from young ages all the way to adult. Anyone can be a tutor, but to be an effective tutor takes patience and diligence, and an ability to convey your knowledge to others. I strongly believe that I possess these qualities and more.

I have Bachelors of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Physics. I also received a Master’s Degree in Physics. All my undergraduate and graduate studies have been done at UC Davis.

I enjoy teaching and tutoring more than anything in life. I am hoping to become a professor after I graduate. Meanwhile, I try to do as much tutoring as possible to help people with their studies as well as to gain more experience for myself with different disciplines.

I can help you with problem areas in your studies, such as Math, Physics, General Chemistry, Engineering and Applied Science. I can also help you prepare for quizzes and exams, SATs, ACTs, GREs,GMAT, and anything else that tests your math/physics knowledge. I charge a 1 hour minimum, but prefer at least a 2 hour session or more. My rate is a flat $30 per hour.

About Me:

I am looking for high school and college students that need help in Math, Physics, and Engineering courses. I hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Davis and I’m currently enrolled in the Teaching Credential Program at Sac State to pursue teaching High School Math and Physics. My current going rate is $20/hr. Most students like to meet up at the Panera Bread at 901 Howe Ave. This coffee shop offers free Wi-Fi and is centrally located about 3 minutes from Sac State, 15 minutes from ARC, 15 minutes from SCC, and 20 minutes from CRC. Panera Bread is really close to my home, so I meet students there free of charge. I also do “travel tutoring” at your home or a location of your choice (i.e. local library or nearby coffee shop) for a small additional amount.
