CMU Summit New Venture Competition

Greetings from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU)! It is our honor to formally invite you to attend the New Venture Competition at CMU Summit on US-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship(CMU Summit), a two day conference, organized by CMU Chinese community (mainly people from CSSA and CSSA alumni).CMU Summit is a first ever event  in 112 year CMU history focusing on US-China collaboration on business, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. It will be held at Carnegie Mellon University on April 28 and 29, 2012. Based on the strong technology and innovation backgrounds of CMU, the Summit aims to bridge the entrepreneur and economical opportunities between U.S. and China. Featuring top business and technology leaders, the Summit will host several keynote speeches and panel discussions focusing on IT, innovation, entrepreneurship, new energy, environment, finance, health care, biotechnology, etc. In addition to keynote sessions, there will be a technology showcase, a career fair and a New Venture Competition.By competing with elite teams from all across America to New Venture Competition, student entrepreneurs would have the chance to attract the most attention from leading Venture Capitalist and to fully present innovations and ideas. Confirmed attending Venture Capital firms include:Zhen Fund(真格基金), GSR Ventures(金沙江创投), SoftBank China Venture Capital(SBCVC, 软银中国), Yuan Du Ventures (沅渡创投), Birchmere Ventures.The list of VCs is expanding rapidly as you apply!Now we have launched the first stage of competition--Executive Summary Submission. Following are the specifics:

Benefits of Competing:Strong investment interests from Venture Capitalist of both China and U.S. Networking opportunities with established individuals from academia, industries, enterprises and government institutions

Participants Eligibility:Any student team with an idea that contains significant societal or technological values is welcomed to participate. Ideas with a strong international application (especially to China) are encouraged. At least one member of each team must be a registered student (undergraduate, graduate, doctoral or post-doctoral). Each participant can only represent one competing team

Executive Summary Instructions: Each participating team must submit their Executive Summary online to enter the selection of finalists. Go to  www.cmusummit.org/contest and download the Executive Summary template. After completion of the Executive Summary, go to the submission page on www.cmusummit.org/contest to register your team and submit Executive Summary. The Deadline of Executive Summary submission is April 2nd, 11:59 PM EST

The first CMU Summit on US-China Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a first-ever high-profile China-focused conference in Pittsburgh with broad media coverage by mainstream presses from both nations. It aims to promote inter-communications and bilateral cooperation between the US and China, and to cultivate more potential partnerships. It is jointly organized by CMU Summit, CMU Chinese Student & Scholars Association (CMU-CSSA), and Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association (HYSTA) DC chapter, supported by the Pittsburgh regional alliance, and Carnegie Mellon University.
